Travel Happy!
Whenever we travel abroad, one of the things I look forward to is arriving at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The moment we reach the airport, I'd be on immediate vacation mode; anticipating the wonderful in-flight entertainment on my flight and another exciting adventure with B by my side. We always try to get to the airport early to try secure the best seats on the flight and after checking in our luggage, B and I would go around the airport to browse through all the cool duty-free stores.
On our last vacation in Japan, we were fortunate to have airport transfer service provided for us upon arrival. So the moment we got through the Immigration Counter, we were greeted by our designated driver from our hotel. There was no need to go out and hail for a cab or figure out directions to our hotel in a strange country. Of course this was all pre-booked and arranged by B's company.
Our weekend getaway in Bandung was a whole different story altogether. That trip was last-minute so I did not put much planning into airport transfer, which I regretted to this day. No offense to my Bandung friends but B and I were a little pissed off for being short-changed by our cab driver who drove us from the airport to the hotel in Bandung.
We got a cab at the airport to take us to the Grand Preanger Hotel and were told that it would cost us 40,000 Rupiah (Rp). I remembered thinking the price was reasonable but had a complete change of mind when the cab driver short-changed us of 5,000 Rp for this journey. He seemed like a dependable professional guy but this cab driver took us for a ride alright!
Two days later, we left Bandung to head back to KLIA and were upset once again when our cab driver (a different one this time) demanded 100,000 Rp for the ride to the airport instead of the 40,000 Rp initially quoted. So that's twice cheated! Shame on us for not booking proper airport transfer prior to the vacation and shame on the cab drivers there too for taking advantage of tourists!
That's why we now place emphasis on proper airport transfer for our getaways. I don't mind putting in more effort by arranging for airport transfers now rather than to arrive at our destination on a bad note if we fall victims to irresponsible cab drivers again. For your next vacation, ensure you don't get cheated. Book proper airport transfer from reputable companies like Shuttle Direct. It will save you a whole lot of mental fatigue and strain, trust me!

Hey Marzie!! :) Most ppl usually book their seats when they buy the tickets, that way they don't have to rush to the airport to get good seats. dunno whether still boleh buat macam tu tak now.. but as far as i know, boleh lah.
And sometimes tu seat ada tau, but they block just in case orang bawak baby datang lambat.. so they release the seats lewat! hahahaah.. how i know this because i lah dok check in orang last time in MAS! LOL!
Anyways, i'll keep your advice in mind the next time I plan to travel! ♥

As someone that flies regularly for my line of work, you hit the nail on the head. I've only ever had to use taxi service twice(once in LA and once in Chicago), and the last time it was because of a flight cancellation in which I had to fly out of another airport on a holiday weekend no less. The other time was to simply get to my rental car place after a mishap with a shuttle that caused me to be late picking up my car.
Every other time, a shuttle was used to take me to a rental car place. I always take a shuttle and have a rental car on my trips.
I like browsing the airports as well, and will pick up some items at every one of them except on those connection flights that don't leave me much time.

Reading your story makes me glad I don't travel at all. I just don't have the money and getting away from all my animals is really hard. Hard to find someone to take care of them. But it looks like you really know what you are doing. I do like to watch people in the airports. So much fun seeing people and where they are going etc. Hope you had a good trip.

I've been to Bandung before but Puncak is better, it on a highland and the weather is more or less like Cameron Highlands and Genting.
Always beware when travelling to any part of Indonesia, even when I went out to town especially Jakarta, especially when there were big crowd I dare not even wear my watch, too dangerous!
It is really scaring when I travelled to Indonesia, I was always alert because I've heard of so many unpleasant incidents.
I like your pic up there with your sweet smile. So be careful if you travel, there are ppl who like to take advantage of tourists!
Now looks like I am chained here with all the cats, if only each family those who love animals, take one cat each from me, I would be free and have back my good life!

GP!! When it comes to cabbies its all down to luck. In comparison, in Bali both my airport cabbies were very nice and did not overcharge us at all. This one time I went to the US the airport cab driver got lost though and you could see that she was genuine. I think she was new and she kept asking other cabbies for help. I was however dead tired from the flight and just wanted to rest but she kept going round and round until she found the apartment over two hours later. She didn't bill be the extra of course but I gave her a big tip for trying because the apartment was tucked away from the main road and a little hard to spot too. I'll never forget that ride LOL Cheers!

I think the cabs in Malaysia aren't that good too. It just we rarely travel by using cab here in Kuala Lumpur. I heard the taxi drivers are rude and menipu too. I have chartered a cab in Singapore and it's very convenient, with a GPS and pleasant driver. Hopefully one day, the cabs especially in Malaysia will follow Singapore steps too!
Bad cab drivers! They try to cheat on everyone, I think, not just tourists. I've heard complaints from people I know about taxi services there >:o >:o
I've never been in a cab while visiting Bandung so don't know the real fare, but 100k is way too much (you could go around town with that) and Preanger should have provided you with reliable taxi company.
Why Preanger, by the way, were you on a business trip?
Anyway, next time you plan to visit here let me know and I'll tip you with what you should or shouldn't do, including the recommended taxi company ;) ;)

We too try to prepare our transportation prior to landing at our destination, just to avoid situations as such. It was a bad experience that's for sure, hopefully never again! I love airport-shopping ha ha, and cause they're duty-free, I tend to buy a lot of perfumes whenever we visit any airport he he! :* :* :-$ :-$ :-$ :-[ :-[ :-[

Lil! You can still have ur good life back, can still go for vakasi, of course can! Think of it as a slight delay...now u have to jaga ur cats and make sure they have proper loving homes, then once ur back to "normal cat mode", you can slowly start planning ur vacay..one day at a time and u will soon be back on track! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Hi EM!! Yeah, the first time we got cheated.. I had my sinus attack in da cab, so I didn't wan to make a fuss and just wanted to go to my room to rest. The second time, we were leaving Bandung edi so didn't want to leave on a bad note.. some more the cab driver was friendly and all dat...jsut that when we arrived, he demanded for 100k instead! no, not Bandung...i stayed in Sumatra for a month (every Dec) coz last time my dad worked there mah...car, driver, hse, maid, etc everything's provided :-P :-P

I didn chop, they sent me email! Then u can see if u wan to do or reject the PB..The rent-a-home one at WOAFS is from PPP! :)
i had that problem with the taxi drivers also Marzie when i went to the Philippines. The see a tourist and try to get any money they can. Great picture of you also Marzie very beautiful. ;)
