Picturing My Kitty Room

I need a kitty room; like the one my friend LJ has for her 9 cats at home! The other day I came home to cat pee on my sofa and I suspect the culprit was either Benji or Chubbs. B and I were rushing to attend a family function so I forgot to clean the litter box. And when the litter box is dirty, the boys tend to make a mess elsewhere.
takbole

Right now, there is just no space for a kitty room at home. But if and when we finally move into a bigger home, I'll definitely have a kitty room to keep the kids inside when we are not at home. That way, they won't be able to roam around the house freely and I don't have to come home to another mess!
adus

Our future kitty room will be an entire room dedicated to the kids and the kids alone. And the first thing I'd install is a Ceiling Fan. Perhaps even two
Ceiling Fans should the room be as huge as our current guest cum dressing room.

Persian cats are so fluffy with thick long fur so my kids will appreciate a ceiling fan to provide a nice cool breeze while they chill inside their new room. Living in hot and humid Malaysia means investing in ceiling fans and air-conditioners and with three fluffy kids sharing one room, a ceiling fan is a must! I hear Hansen Wholesale Celing Fans offer some of the best models so when the time comes, I'll be visiting them to Find out who makes the best Ceiling Fans here!

Anyway, I'm feeling under the weather today so I'll keep this post short and sweet. Here's a picture of Phoebe stealing a sip from my glass. It was a hot day and though the fan was on at full blast, she still needed to cool down with a glass of water. How cute is that? Smiley

Hot and thirsty!

Berry-licious Birthday Mel!

It is a busy Saturday for me. Yesterday was my sister's birthday. Melanie is the youngest in the family and she turns 21 this year so it's a big birthday affair. For weeks we have been figuring the best form of celebration for her and it's finally decided that we're going to have a birthday hi-tea for her and her friends in a hotel here.
Smiley

So this year, since no home cooking is involved, there is no need for me to look up great birthday recipes from my Birthday
Cookbooks to prepare a special birthday dessert for the party. I usually buy something for the party but this year since it's her 21st birthday, I was contemplating on making a Strawberry Trifle!

Trifle is pretty easy to make and it does not require the usage of kitchen appliances like an oven, blender, much less a
Stand Mixer! Like I've mentioned in one of my older posts, I do not own an oven. I only have a microwave oven in my kitchen so my baking and cooking-for-party skills are limited because of this. Perhaps that is one of the reasons I constantly turn to Trifles when dessert is needed for a dinner party or family celebration. I do enjoy cooking quick easy recipes!

Anyway, I found a Berry Trifle recipe online, which I simply have to try soon. It looks easier to make than the traditional English trifle and it looks berry-licious too!
Smiley

Happy Birthday to Mel once again and I will take some pictures of our hi-tea later this afternoon to share with you. Happy weekend! Smiley

Inside the Attic

Attic tents, what are they? If you're not used to having an attic at home like me, you might be just as clueless. Don't laugh but yours truly initially thought it was some sort of tent to be used inside the attic which I thought would make an excellent new toy for my cats! Smiley

Three fluffy meows

Of course that is not the case and I felt a little foolish when I found out the truth behind attic tent, which is actually a product to help homes with attics save on both heating and cooling bills. This is how it looks like by the way. ihikhik

The Attic Tent is a specially engineered, patented insulator. Designed to create an air transfer barrier between the attic and your living areas, it consists of a durable shell of synthetic casing used to help insulation and reduce air transfer by a massive 71%. This in turn, drastically lowers your energy bill whilst ensuring better living conditions for you at home. Contractor-Pro.com offers attic tents and covers in a variety of styles so stop by if you're looking for this item okay?

I've never had an attic in the many homes I've occupied both here and overseas so I've never actually been inside one. But I have always pictured it as being old and musty with a huge Mickey or two lurking around somewhere. Do you have an attic at home? What's inside your attic?

Benji Wants to Cook!

I seriously don't know what Benji finds fascinating with the new cookware I purchased from IKEA a few weeks back. Every time I am not slaving away inside the kitchen, I can hear the clink and clank of my pots and pans and it would be Benji playing with them.

Yesterday, I tried hiding my new cookware on top of my
microwave oven instead of on the kitchen counter but naughty Benji still found a way to get to them! This is the third time I've caught him playing with my cookware by the way and now I'm wondering what other kitchen appliances he paws at when Master is not around!
Smiley

Goody, Master is not here!

Time to cook some fish!

Speaking of kitchen appliances, my refrigerator has been humming louder than usual. When we first bought our fridge three years ago, it was in mint condition of course. There was no humming or buzzing and everything was fine.

Lately, I noticed a slight buzzing sound coming from my fridge. Usually, I'd switch off the main plug and wait for five seconds before switching it on again. Everything returns to normal and the fridge is silent ... until the next time it starts buzzing again! I'm hoping that whatever is causing the noise will disappear but if it persists, I'm going to have to call someone to look at my fridge even though I have no idea where to start. Procrastinator me however say not to worry too much and I should give it a few more days. So I guess I'll cross the bridge when I get to it! ihikhik

As for today, my refrigerator still works fine so I will continue planning my special dinner for
B. I have prawns chilling inside my freezer and even as I'm writing this, I am browsing through my cookbooks for a new prawn recipe. Yes, yummy prawn is what I plan to cook and how about you? What's your dinner menu tonight? Smiley

Mailbox Mystery!

Remember my post on missing mail and possible tampering with our
house mailboxes? Well, my hunch just got stronger recently when I went to pick up my mail and discovered not one, not two but three torn envelopes! It was almost as if someone was trying to reach inside the contents of my mailbox but failed...so far.

Since I'm living in a condo, we don't actually have the typical
wall mounted mailboxes right outside our door so everything is located downstairs in the mail room. I was in a hurry so I didn't check my mail immediately that day. It was only two days later when I browsed through my stack of mail that I discovered the three ripped envelopes! Now who would do that and three ripped envelopes does not make it a coincidence right? Unless of course, my mailman was so careless and accidentally tore my envelopes open, which I seriously doubt. Smiley

Anyway, the ripped envelopes were junk mail so they weren't important. I was worried because I was expecting my first cheque from Churp Churp and that I can't afford to lose. The amount may be small but the trouble to get another cheque mailed my way is the hassle I am avoiding. Fortunately, my CC cheque arrived two days later and I did not get any more torn envelopes after the first incident.
Smiley

To be on the safe side however, I'm going to change the lock on my
wall mount mailbox. But in order to do that, we'd have to file a report with the management office and what not, which is actually the most tedious part. Oh well, these are just some of the condo-living woes I'm facing and hopefully there would be no more torn mail after we change our lock! I hope you're enjoying your weekend and thanks for visiting me today.

Saturday Sauna

Burning Calories and Weight Loss Medical research shows that
infrared sauna use can burn as many as 300 to 600 calories during one sauna session! WOW if this is true and it is a medical research fact after all, say no more and show me the way to a healthier, slimmer me with a new infrared sauna!

Losing 300-600 calories after the sumptuous dinner I had at Fatty Crab with friends last night sounds extremely comforting. I ate like there was no tomorrow and if there's any way for me to help burn unwanted calories in a nice relaxing way, pray tell! marisini

Fatty garlic prawns for dinner last night!

Apparently, infrared saunas offer many health benefits including Detoxification, Weight Loss, Pain & Arthritis Relief, Skin Purification, Cardiovascular Workout, Lower Blood Pressure & Improved Circulation. All these are essential health benefits that help you live a healthier life. tepuktangan

I've never been in a sauna before except once when I went for a pre-wedding beauty therapy session at a spa. The experience was similar to sunbathing; giving you a wonderful natural warmth. Unlike sunbathing however, infrared heat therapy is totally healthy and safe. All you have to do is simply relax in a sauna without having to worry that your skin will burn; all the time enjoying the healthy glowing benefits that come from a sauna session.

Of course there are portable saunas available nowadays and you can easily find one that is right for you to be enjoyed at home. I say having a sauna at home is a luxury not everyone can afford but it's considered as a long-term health investment. One that will help you relax after a long day at work. More importantly, this investment can help alleviate the diet stress I am constantly consumed by knowing that something as simple as a nice relaxing sauna will go a long way in supporting my Blockbuster Diet mission. Care to try?

No Rug for Us!

When I finally get my own kitty room like
Smokey, I want a nice huge mat for my brothers and me to play on. We can never get enough of scratch mats and the more we have around at home, the less likely we'll scratch on Master's rug. She only has one by the way but we love this rug and we scratch it whenever we're inside her room. Maybe that's why we've been locked out of her room these last few days. Smiley

I think Master is looking into buying a new rug and she's keeping it very hush hush. Little did she know that I was hiding behind her laptop while she was designing her new rug and I saw everything! She was quietly working on and designing her new rug with the online rug builder she found at
Rug Couture! Smiley

It seems you can now
design your own rug online and Master has her eyes on a really cute paw-print rug from
Rug Couture. There are over 1,000 colours to play around with and you can choose from hundreds of designs like funky contemporary or truly outrageous but Master really seemed to like the paw-print rug. All custom rugs from Rug Couture are made from New Zealand Wool by the way.

At first, I thought the paw-print rug was for us cats but later I overheard Master telling B that she is afraid we'd mess up her new rug too so she plans to put it inside the guest-room, which we're NEVER allowed in!
Sneaky Master!

Looking for Quick Easy Cookie Recipes

As a kid,
rock buns were the first batch of cookies I ever baked. I was thirteen and we learned the recipe in my home economics class. I remember thinking how easy it was to bake those rock buns, which are small cookies with a rough rocky surface resembling a rock. Hence the name and they're not only delicious but really easy to make as well. tepuktangan

Measure the ingredients to precision and mix them in a bowl. Using a spoon, drop the dough onto a cookie sheet. Shape the dough with the help of two forks before popping them into the oven to bake. Wait for approximately 15-20 minutes before your rock buns are ready to serve! Smiley

Nowadays, baking is a thing of the past for me. Besides not owning an oven in my kitchen, I prefer to cook simple dishes that do not require baking. Sad to say, I've gotten lazy over the years and if I need a cookie break, I'd go to the nearest store and bring home some yummy Famous Amos or chocolatey chewy Pepperidge Farm!
Smiley

Once in a while however, I do get the urge to bake. And that is when I pull out the Mug Cake Recipe from my Quick easy cookie recipes folder and within 15 minutes, I get to enjoy a yummy moist chocolate cake. The recipe works with a microwave oven so for people like me who do not own an oven, this is definitely your answer to "baking" and enjoying instant chocolate cake any time of the day or night!

I wish there were more microwave cookie and cake recipes for me to try; so far it's just the Mug Cake. Do you know other simple-to-make microwave recipes? I'd love to hear from you especially if you have something chocolatey to share!
